Uniformed Public Services Level 2

Before joining this study programme I studied Animal Care at Shuttleworth College. I decided to continue my education on this Uniformed Public Services course because I would like to be a Dog Handler, either in the Army or the Police. I worked at a dog kennels as part of my work experience and think this could be the right career for me.

Our tutors all come from different services backgrounds, including the RAF and the Marines, so we learn a lot from their experiences and the stories they tell us. They’re very friendly and you can talk to them about anything you need help with. We also have speakers come in from the Army, RAF and the Police to talk to us about their services and the different job roles available.

My favourite part of the course is going out on the expedition walks. I’m also looking forward to going camping. We have to set up the tents, light fires and live off of ration packs. We also have a fitness session once a week in the gym or sports hall.
